    Funny old birds these, always popping up from the grass as one walks around, but not so easy to capture in full view.
    Light is from the left in the early morning. Shows off his pointy head nicely!

    7D 100-400 F7.1 ISO 800 1/800 HH

    Nice bird and background. The light was harsh by the looks of it. A fill flash would have been a help.

    I like your composition here Richard - although the angled lighting is a little harsh it does provide some good modelling to the Lark and perch.

    Excellent image with side lights.I like the pose with pointed crest,perch and composition.

    You did well working against the sun angle. As mentioned a bit of fill flash may have helped in that regard. I too like the perch and BG and this angle shows off the mohawk very well.

    Nice comp, perch, bird. You did relatively well for the light angle you had...but I'd tone down the brighter area on the head.

    Great image in most respects, Richard. I like the smooth BF. I agree with toning down the bright areas on left side of the bird (the bird's right side). Well done!

    I did pply a 4% burn to highlihjts on head but not enough I guess - find it difficult with the laptop pad; must by a wifi mouse tomorrow!
