Another lowly coot photo, they are beginning to grow on me.

Excellent water color, and man that coot is pushing some water!
Nice low angle and good exposure work. One consideration
would be to take a little off of the top...

Hi Dan, well exposed, and I like your low angle. Love the bubbles in the bow wake, together with the colours in the water BG. I would take off the bottom.

Yes and I can see why Dan - I usually pass them by, but the brilliant colours in the water and the bow wake really makes a lovely composition. Well seen and taken.

nice and sharp, good colors and a nice BG, I do like the shallow DOF here and the little wave the coot is riding on. I might consider opening the blacks a little bit.

    Dan:

You are getting the most out of these coots!

Colors and the bow wake make it. My first thought before reading anyones comments was, trim a bit off the top to really emphasize the bow wake, so I agree with Shawn. Because of the two diagonal blue ripples in front, would be inclined to leave the bottom as is.

I agree with Arash about the darker areas on the bird, and perhaps some very subtle dodging of the darkest areas.

    Cheers

loved the fall colors in the water. Good job on the whites and maintaining critical AF on the head. Liked the incoming angle and the shallow DOF.

    Hey Dan,
I'm with the bit off the top crowd and some other excellent tweaks mentioned above. Love the colors overall so all in all very well done!

Exquisite color! The bow wave sure does make it a lot more interesting :)

I'm just wondering if putting a little CW rotation would help. The waves and the edge of the frame trick the eye into thinking it is tilted
