This was a cooperative individual, so as usual whenever this happens I work the subject for a variety of perches, poses, and backgrounds. This one has some matching colours behind it!

The perch, bird, BG, matching colors and winterized plants make this a nice photo.

Another nice Snow Bunting Daniel - I like your composition here and the rocky perch surrounded with some vegetation. The complimentry tones of the BG work beautifully. Its always very satisfying when you get a co-operative species to work with.

I think that this is the best view of the bird you have posted, but the IQ is not up to the other two.
The plants really add interest, but need to be sharp to be effective IMO.
The perch and bird are really well done. the Snow Bunting is about attractive for me as any bird gets.
I hope to see one some day, thanks for posting these.

    Excellent image.
Love the light. Sharpness is perfect. Rock perch is quality and nicely proportioned in the composition.
I like the visual interest that the fg plants add, but do wish that at least some of them were in focus.
Looks like you were all over the background control...I wonder how much you would have had to
zoom out to get a few of those plants in focus? Regardless, the image rocks.

Hi Dan, lovely soft light, and I like the winter colours in this. Perched on top of the rock perch really makes him stand out against the OOF BG.

    Daniel:

A well constructed image. The slope of the rock helps downplay its mass. The oof plant material in front of the rock blends in well enough as to not be bothersome to me. I like the clear view of the foot, soft colors.

Perhaps just a few small drifts of snow to tie it all together

    Cheers

Good pose great colours and the picture is nicely composed. Avery pleasing image. No doubt much easier said than done but if you had been able to move a little to the left you may not have had the tail tip obscured.

    Hey Daniel,
Stands out nicely against the BG. I would crop a bit off the top but you know my tastes :). All in all a very nice image!

An other beauty image of the same bird, Daniel. The dry vegetation adds interest. Nice pose and excellent IQ.

Great capture Dan! Nice soft colour! The OOF plant material didn't bother me either. A pleasing image overall!

Perfect exposure Daniel (you held whites very well), good color, perch, and composition. I like the rock and the OOF vegetation....if the vegetation were sharp, it might distract, but it's just right here. It might just be my aging eyes, but the front wing looks sharp with the head and eye very slightly soft. You might try adding just a touch of sharpening only to the head area. Overall, very well done. Wish I had such an image!
