    Default Grytviken Rust

    Attached Images Attached Images

This is a 3 image in-camera multiple exposure captured at Grytviken, South Georgia. Grytviken is an old whaling station that is littered with the rusting remains of whale oil processing plants and abandoned whaling ships. I created the effect by moving my camera one time to the right and one time to the left (slightly) and taking one shot straight on of an old rusty container.

I missed so many wonderful images while I was away. I am just now getting caught up. My hometown on the Jersey shore took a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy while I was away. My family and home are fine-thank you to everyone that sent well wishes to me .

This looked like a blur to me, at first. I like the colors, the composition, and the fact that it's darker at the bottom. It took me a while to see the hint of lettering towards the top. Not being able to read it, makes the image even more intriguing, which is another plus.

I could imagine spending forever taking photos at an abandoned whaling station. Those shipwrecks on your blog captivated me.

It's good to know that your home and family made it through Sandy. I kept wondering about that.

Denise, I am glad to know your home and family is safe after the storm.

I like this image as an abstract... beautiful rust colors and pastel textures. Beautiful composition!

Denise, Great that you and your family are OK...........I like this image. As an abstract I can imagine many different views. The wavy verticals, and the gradient lighting make it for me. Great idea and execution.

Denise, who knew rust could look so nice I like your multiple exposure idea on this one.
