    Default Harn Museum

I'm thankful to live close to Gainesville, a University town with lots of cultural things to do. This was taken at the Harn Museum. Behind the building there are a couple of pools with lilies floating in them. It was nice and bright, with bright blue water and the bright green lily pads but I decided to use Topaz Simplify 5, Oil Painting B&W to change the look. Then I used Nik Detail Extractor and a Nik Border.
Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated

This is very nice in B&W, and the lily pads are arranged in wonderful curves. I like it just the way it is, but I wonder how it would look if it were cropped a bit from the bottom so the reverse S-curve that starts at the upper left corner would end at the lower right one.

Hi, Dennis, thanks for the comment. I agree about the crop. I tried it that way first but was attached to the lily pad at the bottom left because of the dark/light pattern so I left it there. I could like it either way

I share your feeling about that lily pad. When looking at the image, yesterday, I assumed that several of the lily pads, including that one, were a bit beyond their prime. I wasn't sure how they'd affect a color image, but they're an enhancement in B&W.

Cheryl, This is very cool. I like the idea of a healthy crop from the bottom too. Or if you are not opposed to adding a few pads in the LRC.

Beautiful b&w composition, Cheryl. I like the effect on the leaves and that patch of reflected light... nicely processed!

Cheryl, I can see the crop, but I like it as is, the texture and multiple tones of the bottom left pad repeat nicely through the image. Well seen!

This turned out very well! The B&W conversion works. Lots of lights and darks, textures, lines to look at. The composition is excellent. I don't mind the bare area at the bottom right. It seems to me to create a line going up and around/through the image.
