I was fortunate enough to have a few days of great light while these avocets were around. I was able to capture three frames of this pose before the one bird moved and this one was the sharpest. Bill cleaned on left side bird

    Hi Cheryl,
I think this is excellent. I love the poses and the beautiful graduated BG colors.
Great low POV. Both birds nice and sharp and both with a catchlight. Well done!
Nice reflections of the water on the wings.
I would get rid of the round brown blob next to the birds tail on left hand side.

Perfect symmetry, and as you mention some great light to compliment the balanced composition here

Well done Cheryl. Gail has nicely covered the highlights of the image. One of my favorite moments in wildlife photography is waiting and hoping for two or more subjects to move into a unique position such as this.

A terrific moment in time, beautifully captured. One thing you might consider would be to crop the image more tightly, eliminating a little negative space all around, and making a more vertical crop. But this is very nice.

Good eye Gail Ill get on that blob :) Thanks everyone. Norm I agree I was a little torn on vertical or not. I chose more environment with the horizontal

Love it Cheryl. You have nicely preserved the inherent symmetry with the comp but I agree it could probably also work as a vertical.

Excellent portrait Cheryl! I too love it when more than one of a species aligns itself in a symmetrical or otherwise pleasing pattern, and that's certainly the case here. I like it as a horizontal, gives them more room to look into and for those long bills to point into. Great exposure, low angle, and layered background.

I agree about cleaning up the water, but getting this pose and look requires patience and
you did a very nice job.
    I like the horizontal comp.

This is a really cool shot Cheryl, getting two birds opposite each other is fantastic, lots to like. I also like the water colors and ripples well done.
