Yes Stuart you have held the whites here nicely - I love that red eye and the egret is so well portrayed against the darker BG. Nice one!

Stuart, excellent control of the whites in this.
Not easy. How much did you underexpose to get this?
I am always struggling with the bright whites in a dark BG?
I see your settings, but how much minus did you expose?
If I expose to get the white right, I lose the rest of the photo.
I know it is not a simple answer, but you seem to get it right.
Thanks if you can answer this.

Great pose and it stands out nicely against the dark BG.

Sweet exposure work against the dark green bg...
    Subject really pops. Sharp details.

    Hi Stuart,
Great BG and love how the whites pop against that BG.
    Excellent IQ and feather detail.
I like the vertical crop as well,
    Gail

Very nice Stuart! Details in the bird are great, and the bg compliments it well. I wouldn't have thought a vertical comp, but I like the way it looks. Thanks!

    Stuart:

Nice job on the whites, always a challenge with the darker bg. Nice full up front wing, wish the rear was up a bit more.

Interesting choice on crop as mentioned. Perhaps the extra room below is to give him room to flap his wings into

    Cheers

It's a peach of a shot Stu, can't fault it, I suppose you considered a landscape version and preferred the portrait, I think would probably have gone for landscape version but in any event a super shot.

Excellent flight pose captured against a deep green background that makes the pird pop. Great BIF picture, Stuart.
