    Default Banking Eagle

From a March IPT on Kachemak Bay, Alaska, with Artie and Robert. I cloned out an OOF bird in the background; then used Topaz Detail Light to emphasize feather detail; PS highlights/shadows to improve cloud definition and improve feather detail by reducing midtone contrast; NIK Defin for NR; and cropped and sharpened. Any feedback is appreciated.

Love the pose. A bit of eye doctor work would improve this.

Well exposed, nice pose and great composition. Nice PP work; wonder how it would change with Artie's suggestion. Well done.

Great composition, pose and you did a good job in bringing out the feathers. A trip I have been dreaming about for many years.

You caught this pose nicely Mike and you have enhanced the feather detail and cloud definition very well. I like it a lot.

I like the dynamic pose and clouds in the BG. It seems there was some motion blur in the head so eye doctor might help.

    good job

I wonder if you guys refer some specific software or just dedicated Photoshop work when you guys say "eye doctor"?

Hi Lorant, I can't speak with any authority as to the derivation of the term, but in this context it is a reference to material Artie has written describing post processing (Photoshop) techniques for repairing and/or improving the appearance of a subject's eye(s) in digital images. In his Digital Basics, Artie's description of these techniques is found under the heading "Digital Eye Doctor". Because we are quickly drawn to the eye as we view most bird images, even a slight improvement to the eye (contrast, tone, sharpness, etc.) can make a significant difference in the impact of the image.
