    Default RAINY DAY OSPREY

With a slow approach, I was able to get 40 meters from this osprey on a rainy AM. The solitary slender perch was a bonus. Nikon D7000, Nikkor 600mm, f6.3, 1/320, iso 800, EV +2, bean bag on truckj window. C & C appreciated.

    Gary:

I like the high key look, nice pose, slim perch. I could see a minor crop off the top.

I do find the watermarking in the background distracting, pulls the eye away from the bird trying to figure out what is wrong with the sky.

    Cheers

I like the simple design and look back pose. Nice detail on the bird including the rain drops.

    Hi Gary,
I like the pose and the feather detail.I do find your watermarking in the BG very distracting and I spent more time trying to figure out what was going on in the BG than looking at the bird.
It was only once I read Randy's post that I realized it was watermarking.
    Terrific, simple perch,
    Gail

A lovely sharp portrait Gary of the Osprey. I love that head-turn and the soft light resulting from the cloudy sky. Well done!

Randy and Gail, I do not place a watermark in my images. Does the term watermarking used in this context refer to an artifact I'm not familiar with. Thanks for the C & C

I'm wondering what that is in the sky too...very subtle rings on the top part. The rest looks good, the high-key treatment works well.

I like the highkey effect. Good detail on the bird an nice look-back pose. The BG is somehow weird. I don't think that it is watermark.

I've applied some additional noise reduction to the bg. To my nearly 70 year old eyes, the bg looks quite clean on my monitor.

    Gary:

The background of the original showed multiple concentric rings in many areas. Quite large in relationship to the bird. It was so consistent that I assumed this was some type of watermarking, which is commonly used. Quite weird.

It is still present but much less so in the repost.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

    Cheers
