    Default Semipalmated Plover from Nickerson

This is from my last visit to my favorite location Nickerson beach in Long Island.
This beach is battered badly by Super Storm Sandy and I hope the dunes will be restored for shore birds which nest here.

I hope you all like this. C&C welcome.

I like the low angle, pose, raised foot, sharpness and composition. I would try to coax a little more detail out of the dark black area of the band. Well done Maya.

Nice angle, great pose. Good detail. On my screen parts look a little contrasty.

Great low angle, bg and pose. Aree with Jim's suggestion to tease more detail out of the blacks.

    Maya:

The shooting angle, clean beach, raised foot, all good. Yes, a bit contrasty, could try a little reverse S curve to tone it down a smidge.

Hope you will be able to do some new pictures at Nickerson!

    Cheers

I really like the body position of the bird and the clean sand.
I like the way the grey sand blends in seamlessly with the BG grey.
Image is a bit contrasty so would adjust "curves" a bit. I see a need for a bit of CW rotation,
    Gail

A very clean composition of the plover Maya - portrayed beautifully against the soft OOF sand. The raised leg was a nice bonus! I agree that the contrast here could be toned down a tad.

I love the ultra clean comp and setting, and the raised foot besides the fully grounded one is pretty neat. Exposure looks good but yes to too much contrast, and I too see the need for slight CW rotation.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments...I will work on this one to make it look better...I will repost corrected version.

About CW rotation there was slope and that is why I did not apply CW rotation but will give it a try and see how it looks..Thanks again

Easy tweaks as mentioned above and then you'll have yourself a fine photograph. The feet make this one for me.
