    Default White-browed Woodswallow - female

This is the mate to the male posted earlier. The female has a paler mushroom colour on the abdomen than the male bird. Although there is no rapport here with the chicks I liked the looking-back pose of the female.

    EOS 5D, EF 100-400 L @300mm, 1/200 sec F10, Fill flash minus 2 stops, hide/tower, Tripod. Early morning light.

I agree with you John, the looking back pose is really nice. Cool looking bird and a very nice setting with the nest and the chicks. Great work.

    John:

Lovely colors, sharp, well exposed, nice pose, soft BG. I find the flash/exposure better in this one than the previous post, less flashed looking.

Interesting about the different sense of interaction in this one. The adult catches ones eye at once, but as you check out the rest of the image, the chick adds a little extra oomph to the story, and I find it quite effective. Different than the previous, but still effective..

    Cheers

I like the pose, exposure, details and clean BG. The mothers HA leads you away from the chicks. It makes you wonder if she is eyeing up the next meal for the demanding chicks. Well done John.

Beautiful bird and you captured her nicely, love that nest and you used fill flash very well.

I like the textures of the wood, satin look on feathers and the way the toes are holding onto the perch.
The chick in the nest is a surprise for the viewer because the eye goes straight to Mom and then one sees the nest.
I wish the OOF bark wasn't so large as it pulls the eye downward.
I don't know how you feel about cloning things out but it would be easy to get rid of it with that nice clean BG,

Love the pose on your bird and this perch is just awesome. Overall, a great comp. Agree that the bird looks a tad too flashed and might consider trying to tone it down just a tad.

Hi John, Lovely look back pose from Mom, and the subtle flash has brought out the colours nicely. Your tower hide sure achieves a great eye level perspective to your subjects, and the chick adds interest.
