    Default Happy Snow Bunting!

I had a nice encounter with a lone Snow Bunting last weekend, what a beautiful bird! I first used audio but found that this was the tamest bunting I've ever worked, and it would actually approach anytime I "whistled" to it. I put that in quotation marks as my "whistling" is nothing to brag about...but at least it got this individual interested!! From this photo it looks quite joyful :-)

Canon 7D + 100-400L @310mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light handheld, full-frame! Toned down the perch (burn tool), NR to the BG.

What a beautiful bird, I have never seen one in person, they make big local birding news where I live when they are spotted now and then.
Great IQ as usual and nice BG.

Excellent image, Daniel. Love the pose with the slightly open beak and you have your trademark excellent background which makes the image very plesing.

    Daniel:

I love the pose, esp. the 'pigeon toed' stance. Nice job toning down the perch. Sharp and well exposed with nice detail in the whites. For my taste, the BG is just a bit too smoothed out from your NR. The colors in the BG play well with the bird.

    Cheers

An attracative littel bird Daniel nicely composed. The perch works well here and the soft, colourful BG compliments the warm tonings in the Bunting. Well seen and taken.

Sweet facial expression, particularly with the parted bill. Looks perky and interested/alert.
I think showing a little more of the perch would have been nice. The bird's pose also seems
to suggest the possibility of a vertical presentation...I love finding lone snow buntings, they
always seem more approachable to me vs in a flock. The frontal view of this species is probably
the least interesting view of the bird...looks fine, just saying that for visual pop, a side profile or
backside view is much more interesting due to their backside plumage....

Being stuck in the city I am more than envious of your opportunity! You did a great job with this one. It's nice to see a snow bunting so close and thusly posed. Very good light and details coming through!

    Great BG and perch.
Nice eye level view as well.
I would move the bird a bit to the left .
    Nice feather detail as well.
