I have been reworking a few images this last month and wanted to share the results...

This irruptive species visited our shores in large numbers last year and I was to witness one of the largest snowy owl migrations ever recorded here in the Lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada. During a cold morning last winter I was hunkered down in the shore weed busy with two owls that were happily perched a few meters from me when all of a sudden I catch glimpse of a large white object coming in fast. At first I thought the owl was coming straight for me, but I then realised this owl was hunting and it came within feet of me scooping up a small rodent that I must have disturbed amongst the shore weed. This was one of the most breathtaking experiences I have had in the field and as you can see from the camera techs, I was not really prepared for flight action and had to act fast.

    Techs, Canon 7D with 400mm F5.6 @f8, 1/60, ISO400.

I just calibrated my monitor tonight so let me know how the colour looks

OP looks crap to my eyes now... http://jamiedouglasphotography.com/p...d6bf#h1ebbd6bf

That would have been quite an experience Jamie. Under the circumstances and such a slow shutter speed you did well to record the eyes relatively sharp. Look forward to seeing some more of your snowy owls.
Your image looks OK on my recently calibrated monitor Jamie.

It is sharp where it counts. In fact the blurred wings, tail and feet makes it more interesting. It tells the story very nicely, Jamie.

Looking at this image I would almost think that your intent was to get a nice panning/blur shot. It's an understatement to say that you did a great job getting the face and eyes in sharp focus. This shot is stunning! I only wish for more room on the right (get more of the left wing), but I'm not complaining :) Really wonderful image.

This image is quite powerful, Jamie. The eyes are sharp enough to make it work and I am really liking the feel of the motion esp in the wings.
