Hello everyone,
I've been a member of this board for awhile but haven't really posted. I am in an image improvement group on facebook but wasn't really getting the feedback I needed and am considering leaving it, so I figured becoming active on this forum might help me more.
I'm 38, a Florida native, married to a 5th generation Florida Native, grew up in Broward County but have spent the last seven years living in Hendry County. Living out here is what got me heavily into wildlife photography because of the sheer amounts of birds/animals that frequent our five acres and the surrounding areas here in Hendry County. I mainly started out doing equine photography (barn shoots, horse shows, etc), moved on to portrait work, but because the industry is so saturated with photographers right now, I found that I was happier giving that up and just concentrating on wildlife.
I am a graphic designer (I design photography backdrops for an online company) and at least 'attempt' to sell my wildlife images online.
Some of you may already know of me through my images that went viral of three Florida Panthers I had the amazing luck and opportunity to photograph in Fakahatchee Strand a couple years ago. It was like winning the lottery, and an absolute amazing experience I will never forget. I still go down there (and in fact was just there this past weekend) and haven't seen any panthers since then, although I'm on my third black bear sighting (although none close enough for photos).
I look forward to reading through these forums and gaining more information and learning how to improve my photography.
Hi Heather, welcome to BPN!! I remember that series of photos from your encounter with the beautiful panthers...I bet thinking back on that still brings a smile to your face Looking forward to your participation!
Welcome to BPN, Heather! You've certainly come to the right place to learn. Looking through the images on your website, I must say you have some excellent photos. I especially like your textured images. I use that technique all the time myself.
Yes, I do remember seeing about your panther sighting. I can only imagine how exciting that must have been!
Welcome to BPN, Heather. I feel as though we know each other a little bit b/c of Facebook. I look forward to seeing your photographs posted here on BPN. I really think you'll learn a tremendous amount and make friends with new people. If you have any questions, please make sure to ask and don't be afraid to post pictures or critiques. We are all here to improve and learn, and it's truly the right place for that.
