Taken at Nickerson, Long Island in mid-August. Crop, sharpening, some whites recovery. I'm wondering if this works despite the fact you can't see the eye of the lower one. Would appreciate feedback on that aspect in particular.
Thanks for looking and for any comments/critiques.

    Fantastic interaction shot, Melissa.

Action shot overrides minor details based on the complexity of the situation IMO.

Hi Melissa, I agree with Karl's comment about the missing eye contact - no biggie.

I would thin that a vertical crop might work a bit better. Cropping from the left and right and adding room to the bottom might do it

Good reflexes Melissa to capture this interaction between the 2 skimmers. Very sharp subjects portrayed against the blue sky. I find myself wanting to see the head of the lower bird but I guess that is just nit-picking!

There is a great sense of anticipation in this image, I'm left wondering who will win the aireal battle, the bird from above about to pounce or the one twisiting up from the bottom. The more I look at this, the more I like it, without the face. I think that Miguel's crop idea would zero in on the action a bit better than as presented, or maybe even a trim from both sides.

That is sharp as can be and the action is very nice.
Agree that the head being visible would be stunning, but very nice as is.

It is very difficult to get an action shot like this with two birds in the frame and both sharp. you did an excellent job!

I am with Arash on this one. AWESOME work Melissa. Lots of detail in the blacks and whites, and a sweet warm glow to tops things off.

Great job capturing this action and getting both in the same DOF. Exposed well and both birds are nice and sharp. Wish we could see the head but the dynamic action makes up for that. Very well done!

I like the IQ, action, exposure and poses. I think the image works even without the visible eye of the lower bird. Excellent image Melissa.

Fantastic capture Melissa, Love the front view of the top bird...wish eye of lower bird was visible but these images are very difficult and you really did impressive job.

Terrific exposure acquired here and the details are amazing. I do prefer the pano to the the OP, but I might try Miguel & Grace's suggested vertical crop as another option.
