A trip out to two venues today produced only very few keepers (some may say this isn't one of them!) Approx 110 birds in Preston was a fine sight to see, only wish we had had some light on the trees and the birds. 20 birds at Barrow , Lancs where this was taken.
Approx 65% crop , lightened exposure slightly, increased clarity and sharpened in ACR. Slight adjustment to shadows , sharpened whole pic twice in PSE10 using unsharp mask.

Excellent image design and the crest rocks. terrific details and DOF coverage.

If mine, I'd keep a little more room at the top. That will also make the angle appear a bit less steep.

The bird pops out nicely from the white BG and I love it's pose very much. I agree adding some canvas above to help with the steep shooting angle.

Great job on your depth of field here, Ivan. And I really like your image design. Only wish the berries weren't cut off. Is a horizontal that includes the whole bunch possible?

Melissa, the orig shot is a portrait and I cant get it to a landscape crop, I have done a square crop and removed some other berries and twigs, dont know if it is better, or if it may be better to clone some berries from the original post to make them a full bunch. Comments appreciated re the re post

Some may like the more traditional size of the vertical you originally posted, but I prefer your wonderful repost. To me it just gives a more complete and rounded design. Both are lovely but I do think the repost really rocks. Nice job.

Hi Ivan, I agree with Melissa re preferring your second post. The square format for this composition works really well for me - a lovelly image.

Sweet job on the repost. (There are a couple errant clone marks in the upper right corner). I'd still like to see just a smidge added on top to minimize the steepness. The colors, eye contact, berries, raised crest, all add up to make this an enjoyable image.

I also prefer the RP—a most excellent image. The berries add great color & balance to the image. Very well captured.

Hi Ivan, really nice to see these birds in the UK again. Hope a lot more head south to the Northants area as I've never photographed these. Cracking photo and I actually prefer your repost as well. Never easy shooting against the sky so you've done a great job here.

Many thanks to you all for your comments, I too prefer the re post it doesn't look as processed as my original. Hope the birds hang around for a while and some nice weather when I am on my days off next week.

Love the raised crest on this bohemian...such a gorgeous bird!
Nice handling of the exposure. The repost is much better from a
compositional viewpoint, and adding more space on top and even
a bit on the bottom, will probably make it even better. This is
a difficult scenario to shoot in and come away with decent images
that don't have steep angles and are relatively "clutter" free.
You've done quite well here imo.

The repost is a much better image! The berries balance nicely with the bird and the branch seperates the image in two almost equal parts! TFS

The repost is excellent. The pose, berries and perch all work well. You did a very nice job on sharpening this one.
