Default Mirror Mirror #2 (American Avocet)

    Attached Images Attached Images

Taken in the spring at a place I call reflection pond. Posted a shot of a Avocet standing at this spot a while back.
Something about the water color and the distant hillside that make for great reflections.
The biggest problem I have with this spot is the reflection is so good that when I see a Avocet or Stilt flying by and I line up on it, I find myself tracking the reflection allot of times. Can be frustrating.. Makes for a neat shot when you do get it.

Thanks as always for looking and your input. Appreciated

    David

This is a classy image of a classy shorebird. The quality of the reflection is awesome, especially for bif! I enjoy the color and tone of the water. A slight counter clock wise rotation to line the subject up perfectly with it's reflection is worth considering....You did very well capturing the bird and it's reflection and only having to crop 20% for this comp!

    David:

Excellent full downstroke pose, reflection, water color. Agree about the rotation.

I am seeing some blotchiness in the water in a number of areas, probably from the downsizing.

Wish the bird was angled a bit more our way.

Well done overall and excellent timing.

Beautiful bird, twice. Great work on in-camera comp to get bird and reflection with minimal crop. Need for rotation noted. In a perfect world you might have caught him before he started going away, but a really lovely shot as posted.

David, my only comment is that your reflection is sharper than a lot of my primary images !

Sounds like a great spot, and judging from this image you can get great results! Overall very nice with good techs. Yes to rotation, and too bad the subject had passed you at this point (angling away). Strong reflection!

Hi David, very well timed to capture this, and to have a full reflection in the frame. Good exposure on the wing, and I like the hint of ripples in the top half of the frame.

Another vote for some CW rotation. With strong reflections, you can always line up the tips of the bill to create a perfect alignment, or even use the eyes.

Hi David, a gorgeous shot of one of my favorite birds (I must make it out to California some time!). Yes, the image would be stronger if the subject was angled toward you, rather than away, but the visual impact of the perfect reflection positioned so closely to the subject, and the wonderful complementary color of the background, is stunning! I find these reflection shots awkward in regards to composition, but like what you have done. Very nice!

Gorgeous reflection, wing position, and sharpness, David. Yes, it would have been nice to have the bird angled towards you but still a lovely image.

Very unique and cool photo, maybe angling away a tad?
    The reflection is really good.

Thanks everyone for the comments, Appreciated. Thanks Grace, I will look and see what the frame before looks like. I think the wing position wasnt as close to the water so comp got difficult.
