    Default Punk Rockin' Blue Jay!!

The otherwisely annoying strong gusts of wind did give me a few good haristylin' opportunities with these large crested birds! Same setup as previous image, but a different perch. Again lured in with shelled peanuts. A bit less of a HA would have been good, but I like the view of the coif...

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, burn and sponge the perch.

I like the exposure, sharpness. messy crest, BG and composition. They are quick and harsh so you take whatever HA they give you. Well done Daniel!

Fun shot Daniel - nice coif indeed. And I agree w/ Jim's comments. Very sharp for 1/400th second handheld.

    Daniel:

Very done, sharp, well exposed, the 'do' makes it for me. Nice job toning down the perch to reduce its impact.

The shape of the perch works very well as it curves away, giving us a nice angle on the bird.

    Cheers

Love the personality showing in that crest...more than makes up for the weak head angle.
Nice overall view of this beautiful species.

I like this picture chiefly because of the bird's pose but I also like the word "otherwisely" which you have coined this evening!

A real punk hair-style Daniel..!! - gives the bird real character. Well done at 1/400 sec handheld. Great BG as before, but I prefer this particular perch.
