I wanted to catch up with these birds for a while now. So I made the journey to my nearest coastline to find them. Terrible weather but I was pleased to see and photograph them. Comments would always be appreciated and learnt from.

    Simon:

Your low shooting angle has given you great subject isolation, well done. I like the basic comp. I would normally trim off a bit of the OOF foreground, with a corresponding trim from the top.

The BG and and rock colors go well with the bird.

    Cheers

Lovely, like the low angle and background.

Where did you go for it, Norfolk?

Very good exposure Simon, I agree a tad off the bottom would be good, you may wish to consider just a tad more pop, maybe a little contrast boost or selective colour (blacks) or a broad USM would do the trick

Excellent profile pose, great low angle. Beautiful BG. I'd consider going warmer on the WB, and too bad about the larger OOF pebble. Still a very nice image of this delightful shorebird!

Nice shot Simon. The low angle w/ the corresponding isolation of the bird from bg .... and the colorful beach setting make this shot for me.

Great low angle that simplified what I'm sure was a lot of visual information in the foreground.
That being said, a slightly elevated angle might have given a better look at the feet, which would
have been nice imo. Did you run NR on the image, and if so, did you do it selectively? The focus
on the bird looks spot on, but the details look a little soft, as if a pass of NR ran over the bird....
However, it could just be the soft, flat, light quality giving that look....
