Default Juvi Black Crowned Night Heron

    Attached Images Attached Images

Taken at LaChua Trail, Gainesville a couple of days ago. I've been lucky to have found a spot on the trail, where the Night Herons are around all day (4 Juvis!).

There is something a little off about this image. I like the composition, I like the dynamics, but something with the processing (color, sharpening?) just seems a bit off. Comments, critiques, suggestions ... all welcomed and appreciated!

    Shooting Info:
    Nikon D800 | 500 f/4 VR + 1.4x
    700 mm | 1/2500" | f/5.6 | ISO 3200
    Aperture Priority + 1/3EV
AUTO ISO used (min shutter = 1/2500", max ISO = 6400)

sweet flight shot, I like the crop and the birds pose. The only thing I would do is maybe bump the colors a bit, it seems a little dull on my screen.

Hi Miguel, great incoming pose with the extended legs ready to perch. The sharpness looks spot on from here, as do the colours. The image doesnt look flat to me, but adding a touch of contrast wont harm the image.

Great to have this scenario at your finger tips. Look forward to many more.

Super incoming pose and shot. That focus on the approach and wingspan's well captured.
The image somehow looks a little too monotone - mainly due to the BG and bird color match :)

This is great action of the heron about to alight Miguel. The image has better contrast than the previous posts but as Stuart mentioned a tad more may enhance the image even further..!!

Excellent landing pose, very nice composition with the inclusion of the perch to be, Miguel.

    Excellent shot.
Terrific timing, I love the look of the heron as it concentrates to land.
Excellent comp and very nice details.
    Very well done.

Terrific landing pose, and just enough perch showing for a very well balanced composition. Exposure and details look good, but like some of the others have mentioned just a bit more contrast (careful though!) or levels adjustment (especially the blacks and mids) and some boost to the colours and/or WB would make this shine.

I like the shot I get the impression that perhaps the colour temp is a little low.

Thanks a ton for the feedback! I'll definitely give a go around at some added punch via the levels/curves adjustment layer.
