I always wanted to get a low angle take off shot of this species.
The Lilac-breasted Roller (Coracias caudatus) is a member of the roller family of birds. It is widely distributed in sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula, preferring open woodland and savanna; it is largely absent from treeless places.

Hi Chris, well timed for the take off, and the pose shows of the colours nicely. The LBR really pops from the BG, and if anything, I would maybe take a touch off the top. Well captured.

Chris - very nicely captured with focus dead on. Couldn't have been easy but looks like you nailed it. I could see a version with a bit off the top as well.

    Chris:

Beautiful bird, great pose, nice BG, angle in frame and shooting angle.

Any saturation adjustments? Just an amazingly vivid bird!

Agree about crop suggestion. For me, about 25% of the current free space above the bird could go.

    Cheers

A riot of colours! so pretty bird and such nice light. You captured the peak moment in this one! Now that I have a second look at the image, I guess that some crop on top would improve this image.

Dynamic looking bird and captured very well here.
The repost looks even better and more concise.
