    Default Grey Crowned Crane

    This image was taken at a hide enclosure, and is therefore not in the wild.
    I like the way the early morning sun rays helped to show off the beautiful crown and breast plumage -
    Can't figure out how this bird got it's name "Grey Crowned Crane" - I would have named it " Straw Crowned Crane " :-)

    Canon 7D - Canon 100-400mm Lens - F4.5 - SS 1/350 - ISO 800 - Hand Held

    What a feast for the eyes, Craig. So much to look at here. Normally I don't like photos where the bird is facing away, but this one works for me. Might add a little canvas to the left. What a beautiful bird and portrait. I like the effect of the sun highlighting certain areas.

    I was fortunate enough to see one at a bird sanctuary, and you've captured their beauty wonderfully. They're truly stunning creatures.

    Thanks for your comments - Good light and a dark background can do wonders for portraits :-)
