This was taken in the backyard today. The BG is an OOF cedar. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

I wish I could get such great captures in my backyard Jim - This is a lovely portrayal of the Goldfinch, great pose and HA and I like the bark texture of the tree.

The details of the wing and tail feathers is what makes this photo. Great detail and the tree bark and background add to a very nice photo too.

I love the chickadee-esque trunk-clinging pose here...haven't seen that as an image yet for this species! Great techs, tree trunk, BG, pose, comp. Super job!

Jim, a really beautiful bird. I love the unusual composition for a goldfinch. The body angle provides a lovely diagonal juxtaposed against the vertical tree trunk. I really like the feather detail, the bark on the tree, and the beautiful green background. I wouldn't change a thing!

Hi Jim, the leaning out pose shows us all his detail and colours nicely. Good that the head is against the distant BG, and lots of character on the tree trunk. Good job with your set up.

To capture this species with a pose like this on a sweetly textured trunk is really awesome.
I've seen redpolls do this, but have yet to see a goldfinch do it....not to mention that the
backside view of this species is the best!
