This black-bellied hummingbird was coming in for a landing. They like this flower, probably because it is easy to sit on. This is a multi-flash set-up and the first time I have seen this hummer. So nice to have the opportunity to photograph him.

Excellent image Laurie. I would crop some off the top and left.

What a beauty Laurie, you must be very pleased with this capture. Can't fault and always very satisfying to photograph a new species for your collection!

    Hi Laurie,
excellent in flight pose you captured. wonderful stop action and details. Really like the composition with possible cropping alternatives as Alan mentioned. Very well done...

I like the pre-landing pose, flower, fanned tail and this image really shows the cinnamon colours in the wings. Nice image Laurie. Were you up in the 4,000ft range for this hummingbird? I like Alan's crop suggestion too.

    Jim,

I think we were about 5,000' for this hummer, cold and rainy this time of year.

Very nice 'natural' looking lighting set-up and great pose. It might have been cold and rainy but the HB is in great condition. The colours really work well together and nice varied BG.

Good to see this, Laurie, and glad you took advantage of the setup! We were at about 4,000 feet this day actually (as Jim guessed). Alan's crop suggestion would be interesting to try.

    Greg,

Thanks for the altitude correction. See my original post from the trip on 11-2 for trip credits. Thank you so much for the great experience, loads of good photos and 75 new species photographed.

Nice bird and pose. I would also suggest the 3:2 crop ratio. I see some dark areas in BG that are a bit distracting.

Very nice image Laurie, keep `em coming. I can't believe you got 75 new species on the trip...your extension must have been very productive. Gary
