Hello, this Trumpeter Swan shot was taken last weekend. In the original I had clipped it's left wing. So in PP I added canvas to the right and did some small wing replacement and repair. Have not done that in at least a few years. But, I wanted to share pretty cool Trumpeter with you guys and gals. I have only seen him/her once this fall and when the group came dive bombing in the odd colored feet immediately caught my attention. Thanks to Randy Stout for taking the time to look this up, I had no clue! Thanks for looking and anticipate your comments...good, bad or ugly.

Leucism /ˈljsɪzəm/[1] is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals caused by a recessive allele. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin. Wikipedia.

Make it a great day! Gary.

    Gary:

A dynamic pose with spread wings, open bill, and of course those special feet. The bill is also effected by this gene. I hope he stays around so we can see what happens to his coloration as an adult.

Sharp, well exposed, nice job on wing tip. Some may comment about rotation, but at that site, it is probably pretty level.

Glad you posted this one, it is a pretty unusual variant!

    Cheers

Thanks for the info on leucism. Nice job with the wing repair. Consider clockwise rotation.

Dynamic pose with the spiining feet and open bill. I like the colours and pano crop. The front wing would have been awesome extended up more. Great job with the wing repair, just a bit of refinement to go in the water around the primaries.

Cool shot of an unusual bird! I like the open bill and flight pose, well done on the exposure. Wished it would've made an appearance for us Saturday when me and the group from Ohio were there.
