Default Rainy Day in the Smokies Abstract

I haven't been around much lately because we went to the Smoky Mountains last Saturday and got home Thursday night, and before that I was busy preparing for the trip. The photo-taking was good and bad. The first 2 days it rained and/or heavy overcast but the leaves were beautiful and I got a good many nice shots but the highlight of the trip was all the snow "on top of Old Smoky"!! We went to Newfound Gap on Monday and Wednesday afternoons when the road was open and it was indeed a "winter wonderland"!! I'll no doubt post some of them when I come up with some creative ideas.

This photo was made through the windshield in the rain at Cades Cove. I deliberately made it out of focus as I didn't want it sharp. We gave up and left after going down Sparks Lane due to the rain but I thought this was cool of colorful leaves. I used Oil Paint and Topaz Adjust filters on it, layered over the original at 60% opacity in soft light mode.

Judy, this is just great!! I love the colors and the abstract look. I think it was a good idea to shoot it out of focus and using Oil Paint created a wonderful look. Really nice work

Thanks Andrew and Cheryl! The rain made little waves or cascades on the windshield and that caught my attention. We were sitting still in the campground parking lot so the wipers weren't on. I used Oil Paint to just add a little more texture to the water pattern.

This is a lovely abstract, or semi-abstract! I love that you took it through the wet windshield of your car. Wonderful colors! Pleasing composition. I like that the colors include cool as well as warm colors. Well done!
