It has been a warbler sort of week.. well. after the ice popped off a few of the local lakes anyway. That started the bug hatches.. and the warblers and swallows put in instant appearances. I THINK this is a palm warbler... but Im not much at bird identification. Anyway he was feeding on the ground with a bunch of sparrows.. and some other warblers that I thought were yellow rumps but I was informed they were myrtles... this guy was close.. I cropped this shot just slightly.. there was a bit of distractive elements outside the current framed view and I removed them via crop.. I didnt mind the larger presence of the bird.... but then my current phase is still one of closeup vs farther out...

Hi Kenn always a treat getting close to little birds !!! I like the pose and placement Would increase density a bit and back down the usm Looks a little over sharpened? Wish that perch was a little higher to clear the grasses !!!!

    Default Nice one!

Kenn, very nice and close Palm Warbler! According the my field guide, based on what field marks we can see in you photo, this would be a breeding plumage western race of the Palm Warbler, Dendroica palmarum, palmarum (are you located in the west?). This subspecies breeds in western Canada, and would be in spring migration. I agree that the image looks a little harshly sharpened, which should be a quick fix. I am seeing a couple of kind of distracting blurred X's in the left BG, like maybe a chain-link fence? I like any sharp, closeup of any warbler though. I give you points for degree of difficulty. Kenn, I think that your locale puts you right in the migration path. Dan Brown
