Mmmm! love the shape and colours on water! I would crop a tad on bottom since the reflection is blurred and is touching the frame. HA is good as is light. TFS

    Dan:

Some lovely water here to complete your duck, esp. like it on the left. Sharp.

I agree with Juan about cropping from below. I would try a crop just a sliver above the bottom of the bill in the reflection. The distorted reflection wouldn't be much of an issue if not for the white patch in the bill.

    Cheers

Beautiful mix of colors in both bird and BG Dan. I don't mind the reflection and feel it adds to the composition.

Nice pose, colours and the water looks very cool with all that pattern and colours, Dan.

Gorgeous drake in yummy colored/textured water.
I think the head angle is the only weak spot in the image.
The light angle appears to indicate that the bird's head is
angled slightly away from the light source. In this case, if the
duck had turned it's head a few degrees towards you, the illumination
of the head would have been improved imo. You can see where the sheen
on the green of the head falls off right before the eye of the bird, due to the
head being slightly angled away from the light source...

Hi Dan. This is a truly wonderful shot. I love the reflections and the ripples, the colors are phenomenal. Head angle isn't really all that bad, just that the lighting on the eye is less than ideal (I run into that problem a lot...unilluminated eyes.) I think the photo could benefit from a little cropping along the bottom, just over the top of that lowest ripple reflection. It would cut out that fragment of the ducks reflection that kind of hangs out there all on its own.

Hi Dan, great detail captured on the Wigeon, and I like the hint of droplets too. Yes to cropping off the bottom, and just love the texture of the water.

Hey - lovely shot. Love the water. Not much I would want to change here. I agree w/ Jon above about a very slight crop to bottom. About the darkness around eye - Shawn seems to have the analysis down on that, so maybe next time you can get it perfect. Still, as I said, it's really lovely as is.
