    Cooper's Hawk

    Smith Point, TX

    D800, 300/2.8, ISO 400, f5.6, 1/3200, lured in with decoy owl.

The end of the hawk migration bring in more adults. I was happy to get this image on the last day of shooting this past weekend.

An absolutely superb capture Alan - I love the extended wings and tail, and the good HA. Was this hawk reponding to an owl decoy?

Alan this is a real gem of a shot I love the radiating patterns in the plumage and technically it looks perfect. A shot to be proud of - well done.

Pose, background and IQ to die for. I have no words to describe how I feel about this shot, Alan.

Wow! They keep getting better. Cant say much about this image, my mouth is hanging open too far:) Looks like you and Doug had hawks almost bouncing off your blinds out there. I have many close shots of raptors flying, even with quarry in front of them, but there is no better way to get close to wild raptors than your methods. Awesome..

Wonderful wingspread and background. The light and details are just right to show the dynamics of the mid-air turn and swoop

Don't think I've ever seen a better image of a Cooper's hawk in flight. Congratulations, Alan, this is beyond superb.

Super frame Alan! Thanks for the hospitality last weekend! Wish I'd been able to stick around through Monday, because it sounds like you guys got some great stuff after I left.

Unreal! Just terrific pose and IQ.
I guess this puts to rest the idea that the D800 does not have very good AF.
As good as Cooper hawk photo as I have seen!

Absolutely amazing image. The background elevates the success of this one imo.
A consideration would be to tone down or clone out the noticeably yellow spot right
below the bird's right wing....sticks out just a bit once one gets one's breath back
    after opening the post.
