Going thru files and this time of year I remember quite clearly as it was not far from when I dumped my gear in the Tampa Bay. Can't wait for this winter to go out for these guys again. I've tried to perfect this shot and getting the timing right is a challenge. I was happy with this one.

Incredible timing and sharpness. The best I have seen of this behavior.

Very good catch, I like how the blue water surrounds this grebe? the red eye is a nice touch with so much blue in the picture.

A great grebe shot Cheryl, the moment well caught. The water has an almost mercurial appearance and that red eye just pops..!!

Beautiful blue colors, image pops really nicely and I like the water movement as well. Good timing and behavior.

I can really appreciate this picture as I tried a fef times and just did not get the right moment.
Your timing and the picture quality is something out of this world, Cheryl.
(I hope you did not really dump you gear into the water)

I am green with envy over this one, Cheryl. You got 2 great ones of this behavior (one with the Merganser also) and I got ZIP. Your efforts really paid off, Cheryl, as this image really rocks. It's sharp as a tack, the eye and part of the beak is visible and you really see the action/behavior captured. Colors rock too and I like the water drops on the bird's back.

What an awesome capture, girl. Fantastic detail, sharpness, comp, and above all, moment in time that you've frozen. Really perfect timing. Love that smooth silky water.

That focus is incredible. Lighting is excellent. And that pose! I think you managed to get the timing quite perfect in this shot. Looks like a nice blue sky with patchy clouds is reflected in the water...really love that.

Just out of curiosity, as I'm still very new to bird photography...that looks like a Grebe, but I'm not sure which species. Do you know which one it is?

    Decisive moment, very well captured!
You've put us right in the water with the grebe, really excellent perspective.
