First of all, I want to apologize, if a penguin does not belong to Avian!!!!! If not feel free to move it or let me know, than I post it in non flyable birdies

Jackass penguin at Boulders beach jumping from the rock on the right to the rock on the left. I got a series of 10 images. My Mk IV was running like a machine gun

    Mk IV
    ISO 400
    f/13.0 1/2000
    lens 200mm

    Camera Raw, lens correction, clarity.
PS clean up dust, tonal range, levels, USM and that's it. Hope to get a bit more suggestions
No extra sharpening at the small file for web. I left it as it was in RAW. Well as a big file I used USM from Robert A.
    Thank you very much

    Ciao

Hope that I did not forget any tic/dot while saving for web!!

Of course a penguin belongs in the avian...it's a species of bird after all. It's a lot of fun to see something different posted. Love the action you captured and the rock(s) work well. For my taste, your penguin is a little too centered. I think I would try cropping it from the right to the first big cut in the rock then probably a little off the bottom. Your penguin's face is looking quite dark to me. I would try to lighten it up.

    Looking forward to more.

It's a very different kind of shot which makes it interesting. I am agreeing about the dark face, for me the entire bird could be lightened. I think it this were mine I would take off from the right up to the white mark on the rock or so.

This made me smile. A great image. Would brighten the bird a bit.

Thank you very much to all of you replying with suggestions and nice comments.
I have lighten the full bird and rock. This is a youngster, that why it's face is still so dark. Adult Jackass penguins have a white strip going up their face. The feathers on the body are black. tried my best, even fringing came up but cleared that.
I saturated the sky a bit more blue as well. Thought it needs a touch. Well you see the difference anyway.

Crop I did, looks much better to me. How about you Marina & Cheryl ?

Thank you very much for all your help

    Ciao

I like the original composition, I like the small size of the bird amongst the large rocks it helps convey just how athletic the little guy is.
I would suggest you select the bird only and brighten that only, (I get the impression in the repost that most things have been brightened up). The bird would be far more striking.

    Hi Anette:

I like what you have done with the exposure on the penguin. I think the exposure of the rock on the original post (OP) was probably more accurate and I feel it has more character, colors & textures. So I would leave the rock alone. I really like the crop from the right. Another option which I just tried was leaving the bottom as is and cropping some from the blue sky instead of the rock. It's really a personal preference. I can't even decide. Maybe some off of both. So many choices. :)

Thank you very much Jonathan and Marina. After comparing a few times I agree with you Marina, rock color wise. Well cropping off here or there. I just will do some crops and have a day later on a look again, that might do the job :))
Thanks so much for your input, I highly appreciate it.

    Ciao
    Anette
