Default BOO - Happy Halloween Everyone!

This Eastern Screecn Owl (Rufous Morph) was photographed at Withlacoochee State Forest as the sun was setting. The cavity was quite high. I believe this to be a female b/c two weeks later one of her fuzzy chicks popped out and roosted in the same place. What a treat this was for me since I had never seen or photographed a Screech Owl. Besides this great subject, I love the intricacies of this particular nest cavity.

    Canon 1D3, Canon 500L & 2.0 @ 1000mm
    F10, 1/160sec, ISO 640, manual mode
    Fill flash @ probably -1.6
    Feisol Tripod, Jobu head

C & C always welcomed and much appreciated,

Great Halloween post. I too like the classic nesting cavity. Owl is exposed well and lots of detail. Love the eyes wide open. Well Done

A fitting image for the ocassion. Happy Halloween to you.

Loved the details. Good use of long focal length...the angle does not appear too steep due to that. Good flash work as well.

Love those eyes Marina and complimentry colours of the owl and nest hollow. The late afternoon light has really warmed the image, and yes the variety of texture in the tree is stunning.

Happy Halloween Marina. Just finshed going around with my two-year old great-grandson. He had a lot of fun, so did we.
Excellent image of a rare red morph. I like that the eyes are open and the bird is so beautiful.

Besides that adorable face and the wide-as-can-be eyes, what I like the most here are all the textures and the sense of depth. So much for the eye to explore here. Wonderful capture, Marina.
