    Default Just a Steenbok...and a fly

Something from our Kgalagadi trip in November 2011. We have just booked another trip there again for the end of November 2012...spur of the moment thing as I wasn't scheduled to be in the field again until January when I would be in Chobe. As you know, this place draws me like this Steenbok seems to draw flies .

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s, 700mm
    f7.1 @ 1/1000 SS @ ISO-2000
pretty much full frame, cropped slightly for better composition
    overcast weather

Hi Morkel - Nice choice on the dof. I like the complementary bg too and the head on stare. Usual excellent IQ and detail. I hope you'll get some equally good shots on your upcoming trip too.

This image absolutely rocks, Morkel. I especially LOVE that BG which complements your subject so well. Amazing how one ear is so much larger than the other. The details here are tremendous and the fly is a nice touch.

The only thing I would suggest would be to level the eyes and, when you recrop, take some off of the bottom.

Absolutely love this Morkel, from the beautifully coloured, soft background to the way the fly gives the antelope a sense of its tiny size. Very nice.

Very nice head on image of this Steenbok. The BG goes well with the colors and the fly is a nice touch. Well done.

It's that magic BG & colour that really take this up a notch on the norm, nicely done Morkel.

Hi Morkel, it's the colours and tones, keeping the head on POV and simplistic approach really makes this, and is cut above the rest, excellent work.

Perhaps the hardest image to pull off.

Nice warm head-on photo. The fly adds a lot. Fine job.
