    Default Willets and terns

This is from the trip that Maureen and I took to Cedar Key and another view of the dock with all the willets and terns hunkered down. I used Fractalius Rounded, then Nik Detail Extractor. I was very undecided about the crop but this was the best one I could come up with.

I like the way the fract gives this an almost illustrated look. What I particularly like though, is the way it shows the separation of the willets and terns and the fact that the willets seem to hover over the little ruddy turnstones (I've seen this several times at our local beach as well.) Willets are such a nice shorebird

I think this is one of those images in which the content is good enough that cropping isn't as important as it might be, otherwise. Those groupings are good. I do like that the dock sweeps in from the lower left corner.

I think this would be a tough one to crop. The processing is very nice, as Maureen wrote, giving it an illustrated look. That illustrated look is evident in the birds, the boardwalk, the fence, but, not the water, causing some dissonance. Could you make the water have the same look?

Hi, Anita, thanks for your comments. The water has some of the fract effect but I brushed out most of the Detail Extractor because it made the water look terrible. It was very plain, brownish water anyway which didn't help.
