    Default Broad-tailed Hummingbird

Here's a shot from a day I spent doing multiple flash hummingbirds this summer. The pose makes this one special IMO.

    Doug:

The in your face, I am coming at you pose here is great, and despite the merge of head/bill with the rear wing, there is nice separation there.

    Nice DOF.

I have really come to like at least some variation in my backgrounds, seems more natural. The hand painted backgrounds I use for butterflies have some variation, which I find pleasing.

    A winner for sure.

    Cheers

That is a super cool pose, Doug. Really makes it pop out, gives it such a 3D effect. Pretty fantastic image.

Excellent image Doug. It looks like it is going to fly out of the screen. I like the sharpness and pose.

    Killer pose, a scary hummingbird?
Who would have thought they could look like this?
    Very nice.

Spectacular shot, Doug. The pose is very dynamic. Technically superb. Great dof.

I agree w/ Randy about the BG - I too like a bit of variation. But the color here complements the bird very well.

And in response to dankearl above - the ant's a dragon in his centaur world (Ezra Pound). Scale is everything.

Great pose and usual superb quality. The well thought out lighting is excellent and very 'natural' looking.
