Nothing fancy here, just a good'ol friendly chickadee against a fall foliage backdrop. Always fun to hand feed these guys, as well as the nuthatches...and they make for great photo subjects while at it!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @300mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/6.3, ISO 800 (histogram checked), natural light, handheld, lightened a couple of dark spots in the BG via clone and dodge tools.

A fun photo and unique crop.
A bit more more DOF would look nice.

Nice job and very sharp on the head, especially for 1/250th and HH. Exposure it perfect and a very nice BG makes for a pleasing image. Great work.

Precious bird and capture, Daniel. Love that BG color and as usual, you have awesome details in your feathers. I like the cocked head of the bird.

The background colors rock. Love the positioning of the subject in the frame and on the perch.
Perfect exposure and the light quality surely helped with that....very impressive sharpness at
1/250....they rarely hold this type of pose for long! The shallow dof works with the three dominant
lines in the image, and directs the eye right towards the sharpest and most important part of the
photograph....still, I agree that more dof would have only improved the comp....at least enough to
get that foot in there a bit more sharply.

A very sweet head turn on this one, a very sweet image, a difficult composition to frame well I think, but it works very nicely
