    Default "Ready" - Elegant Tern

Took this in the summer at my local beach estuary. The tern had just missed a fish and was hovering over the spot. A few artifacts from downsizing. Had more room on the right but looked to boxy. Crop suggestions.

Thanks as always for looking and your input, Appreciated.

    David:

Elegant indeed. Wonderful pose, drops, muted BG, sharp. Crop works because of downward gaze, in fact I could see a bit more below if you have it. I do see the artifacts along the top of the tree line that you mentioned. Not clear to me why those pop up in some images, not most.

    Cheers

Great job taking advantage of his miss!
Great pose and excellent detail and exposure.
Here is a suggestion for a crop if you have more room below or are ok with adding canvas.

Great image with excellent IQ. Very nice timing on the capture as well. I would also like to see more room on the bottom, but maybe not as much as Mike added.

This image is lovely, and has so many comp possibilities. I see it as a strong vertical, with even more off the right than Mike's version, but less on the bottom. Very pretty pose.

Wonderful pose; such grace. Nice lighting and well exposed. Yes to a bit more room at the bottom, but for me maybe not as much as in Mike's repost. Lovely shot.

Thanks Mike and everyone for the comments and comp suggestions. I think more of a vertical dose look better. Great advice.

Excellent IQ, and the comp suggestions I agree with.
Very nice hovering photo with the water drops.

Elegant image of this elegant tern!
Great light quality. Well lit subject with pleasingly soft shadow areas.
Love the water bead details on the bird. Nice catchlight in the eye too.
Agree with a bit more room below as a consideration, though imo,
the tighter presentation of the OP works quite nicely.

Splendid image. love the dark band at the bottom and those droplets. If you freeze the right moment, tern poses can look quite dramatic. well done. IQ looks good.

Nice pose, detail and sharpness. The water droplets are a big plus. Another vote for a more vertical crop with some more space below.
