    Ian,

Greetings. If this were a bird, I would say the shooting angle is a bit high but for macro you'd have dof problems. Seems a little tight in the fg. Not sure about the bright reflections I'm guessing is from the flash? The speckled appearance of the green fg is distracting. Interesting creature... I'm guessing it's pretty small?

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Thanks for commenting, Michael. Yes, he's all of 2-3 mm in size. I see what you mean about the speckled appearance of the FG -- I'm not sure why it looks like that. The reflections are from flash -- probably should have toned it down some.

Hah! A lower angle would be quite the challenge ;-)

    Cheers,

Agree, more flash diffusion would result in softer light which would most likely take care of the specked foreground (less sharpening for that area also). Nice colors. :)

I think this is great Ian. A little off the top and a tighter crop and you would have it. After all, doesn't macro imply a tight crop??! Certainly worthy of our Macro and Flora forum too! I like the green base but can't figure out what it's made of.

Thanks for commenting, all. The base is a basil leaf.
