    Default Red Backed Shrike

    Hi All,

Here's one from yesterday. A Red Backed Shrike. Taken after the morning mist had disappeared. Tried to do something a little different with the post he was landing on (rather than just a close crop) Let me know what you think.

    Canon 7D and Canon 500mm F4 IS - 1/500s ISO 400 F4

    Cheers,

    Carl.

Like the perch here even though the size is rather large. It reminds me of driving down the country roads here in Michigan and seeing birds on the fence posts. Is this a crop from a vertical? Bird is sharp, well exposed, nice background and a very cute little fella.

love that perch! love the tiny details on it from the lichen(?) or whatever is growing on it. I like the little details on the post corresponding with the fine detail you got in the little bird. I said "WOW" when I opened this pic. How delightful. I think the size of the post helps demonstrate the small size of the bird. I might crop a bit off the top and bring out the eye catch light a bit. Did I say that I like this image?

IQ looks excellent with great colors. Would really like to see this posted at a larger size.

I would also love to see it in a bigger size. Nice shot and photo.
