I took this shot at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis yesterday. D600 600VR + TC 1.4 f8 ISO 800 -1 exposure compensation and no fill flash. No cloning and slight crop for composition.

Wonderful photo. I love the dynamic nature of it, with all the spray. Great lighting, good HA, love the low angle and thin DOF.

    Jon:

Lots of good stuff here. Nice to see the D600 images popping up.

Nice low shooting angle, flying water, sharpness and exposure.

I would consider cloning out the second catchlight, as it makes the eye look less sharp here. Sometimes flying water also can degrade apparent sharpness, but here I believe its the second catchlight.

    Cheers

Jon - this is an excellent shot. I like the low angle, and the very clean background. The splashes of water add a lot to the image, and the detail throughout the face and feathers are perfect. I think you nailed it.

Nice low angle. beautiful water, and the drops are a nice bonus!

Maybe tone down the very brightest whites on the bird a bit.

Wonderful image Jon. The water action and sooo much "life" in this image is really eye catching.
Super low angle, and overall, love the composition. I like double catchlights, especially natural
ones from sun reflecting off water! Is the nictating membrane down?

    Thanks everyone.

Shawn...that is correct. I did not want to change the eye because this is how they look when coming from under the water fishing. So I chose to keep it as shot. I appreciate everyone's input because it is something I did struggle with.
