    A Squacco Heron on the alert for a catch .
    Image created at a local bird sanctuary
    I quite like the side light and the plumes swirling in the wind.

    Wow, the angle of the light and the dynamic pose are killer in this image! I've never seen one of these before, so I can't tell if it's there is a slight color cast or if that's the color of the plumage. Either way, the detail is awesome in the feathers. Can't say I would do anything to this image. great job all around.

    Wow indeed! Phenomenal shot. Love the lighting, the perch, and the background. That plumage is pretty amazing, too. Very well done. The 1D X in the hands of a skilled photographer is a thing of wonder.

    Arno:

    The plumes make it, the side lighting adds some form and depth, interesting pose, like the plume shadow.

    I could see teasing a sliver more detail out of the shadowed areas , but very nice as is.

    Beautiful shot,Arno.You've handeled the harsh ligh very well here.The details are well exposed and nice subtle BG.Like the hairdo ( if I may call as such).TFS

    This is absolutely lovely.
    I like the square comp. It works well here.
    Love, love the crest feathers swirling and the one legged stance.
