Default Monet Van Gogh Water Lilies

    Attached Images Attached Images

A marriage of the two The water lilies are very much a Monet subject but I used the DAP Van Gogh setting to get this image. I processed the water lilies twice - once running about 300-400 strokes to use as a texture overlay and then for the base image let it run about 4,000 strokes. I then blended the two together and painted back in the water lilies. Then used Viveza to increase the brightness and saturation a tad and decreased the warmth about 40% to get the blues I wanted.
    Thanks for looking.

Hi Cheryl, this is wonderful. I really like the diagonal line of the main blossoms and the one in the corner. Lovely painting!

Great work, Cheryl! You combined the styles of the two artist beautifully. Well done. Very nice composition, also.

Very creative. Fine use of the filters applied. Colors are wonderful as is the concept brought to life by your vision and skills.

Take a bow, Cheryl. It's beautiful. The composition is wonderful. There are lots of good primary diagonals -- the smaller blossoms, the lines of dark leaves, the alternating blues and greens, and the transition from green in the upper right to blue in the lower left. The lavender in the blues is very effective. The contrast between the warm and cool colors is very effective, too. The only thing I'd suggest thinking about -- and this is really minor -- is toning down the dark vertical squiggles in the left center just a bit. Thanks for posting this. It's absolutely refreshing.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'll give Dennis' suggestion a try - I think he's right.

A very nicely controlled image. You knew the look you wanted and worked until you got it. Great technique.
