Giovanni's posts made me want to post an African Wild Cat of my own .

Taken last year at very first light in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. This place always seems to deliver quality AWC sightings. Just saying.

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s with Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II + 1.4xTC @ 700mm
    f5.6 @ 1/500 SS @ ISO-200
    EV -1
about 60% of original frame after cropping

Morkel - I like the comp and nice rim lighting. Might consider getting rid of some of the specular highlights in the bg though.

Hi Morkel, nice light and composition. Rachel makes a good point about removing some of the specular highlights.

Hi Morkel, I like the light, but wonder if it looks a little 'washed out' as an image? Obviously the condition were very bright, but wonder if marginally adjusting the Exposure, pushing the Gamma, then just tweaking the Levels so the pointers hit the baseline of the histogram. I certainly pushes, darkens the whole image, but perhaps more depth/detail in the overall appearance, not to get confused with clarity or sharpness, just an old mans thoughts . I know it can't be, but it looks like a collar around the neck?

    Thanks guys.

Steve - will play around with exposure, though I am pretty happy with it as I tried to darken the tones in initial processing.
It's no collar, rather a 'pesky grass' lit up by the sun...
