So why is it that when you actually do get that brief bit of gorgeous, golden light on your trip to Africa that the only animals in sight are springbok, wildebeest or impala (depending on country of course)? In Namibia, it was springbok in the Ongava Private Reserve outside Etosha National Park. This is ff and I'm not in love with the brush at the top of the frame but can't find a crop I like better due the springbok winding up too near the top of the frame. Any suggestions?

Hi Rachel, that's a tough one, perhaps pano? I wonder if this was a case of, and aloud, to have stood up and try to have got more of the yellow grass, rather than the trees? The grass really makes it and allows the subject to 'pop'. Nicely processed.

Thanks Steve, I'm not sure but I think I might actually have shot this out the roof hatch. In Namibia we used a closed vehicle with a pop top. By pano do you mean some from top and bottom or just from the top with this one?

    Thanks,
    Rachel

I'm fond of layerings of color and texture in my images so I don't mind the darker trees/bushes up top. I'd go pano from the bottom and keep the trees. The dark stripe kind of mirrors the band on the sprink bok.

My first thought was also a severe pano - try the 6x17 aspect ratio.
I concur with you on the subject-light issue

Thanks guys. Steve C - I see what you are saying about the layers. Here's the 6x17 pano suggested by Morkel.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

I like the trees, really. They add another layer, dimension, interest, to the image.
