Hi Ivan, a beautiful owl -- the eye really jumps out at you. I like the shooting angle. The wings provide a pleasing diagonal. Nice head angle, and a very nice background.

    Very nice.
Hard to believe it is so sharp at 1/640.
Nice eye level view and nice complimentary BG.
Details in the face are excellent.

Good panning technique to get this one sharp in flight at 1/640. Facial disc and eye show up really well in this capture. I would give it a tad more space on the right.

Like the soft colors here and the matching BG. Beautiful owl and a nice BIF shot.

Wonderful capture, Ivan. I love the pose, the angle towards you, the soft light and background. Great IQ and sharpness. Even more impressive given your shutter speed.

Thanks for all your comments. It was a typical dull winters day and I can assure you there were very many shots that were not sharp at such low shutter speeds, this one and 4 others came out well.

I normally prefer a better wing position (higher or lower) but I gotta say it works remarkably well like this here...shows an obvious gliding motion. Very sharp, love that eye, and good exposure. The upper part of the BG is starting to show some noise, but still not too bad, and very manageable.

Impressive sharpness considering the amount of available light and the BG that so closely matches the coloration of the bird. Very reminiscent of my Burrowing Owl flight shot from a couple of months ago. You got a nice look at that incredible eye! I'm jealous!
