    Default Dark-eyed Junco Feeding

I captured this RAW shot last week in our backyard as a flock of Juncos were feeding on the ground and flower heads in the garden. This was mid-morning under heavy cloud cover (Seattle area). Handheld using a Canon 7D, 500mm with 1.4x at 1/1000 sec at f11, ISO 3200. Only post processing was to lighten up the photo a bit using LR.

    Morgan,

Greetings. First, I see that this is your first post... Welcome to BPN. A very good looking image. I particularly like the color, the feather detail and the moment. A little noise reduction might be good on the background. I might try a crop from the right to move the subject out of the center. Good show!

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Hi Morgan, good job considering lighting must have been pretty poor on the given the high ISO and then having to push up some more. Maybe a little targeted noise reduction as Michael has said. The pose is nice and composition is good. I like the natural environment look to it. However I think I would try to boost vibrance and do a bit of cloning on the bill and clone out out the seed. I know it is feeding but I think it could look better left out. Its a great portrait though and looks very sharp, good job.

    Hi Morgan , Welcome !

I'm Afraid I will end-up being the one that would do much more to this photo . As in , I would clone out every thing except the perch limb . I would leave the flower and the seed . but all remaining elements would go . but that is just me .......Defferent strokes , Right ?
