Nice hummer Fernando. Eye is sharp, and the flowers are pretty. It would be nice to have an unobstructed view of the bird feeding from the flower. What were your aperture and focal length on this shot? DOF seems rather shallow.

Aperture was at f5.6 with the Canon 400mm lens.

I have been told this one is a Gray-tailed Mountain-gem

Thanks for the extra info. Just out of curiosity, why was your EC set to -2? Shooting wide open at ISO 1600 and getting only 1/320 suggests that there wasn't a whole lot of light when you took this picture.

I think there very little light judging by the colors.
Good sharpness in the eye, wish for a more uniform background and a better view of the bill.

    Hi Fernando,
Nice capture, The image seems a little dark to me; and its a shame that the bird's bill is behind the flower...

Not enough light, it was starting to rain, I had to go -2 to increase the speed.

Fernando, indeed, this is a female gray-tailed or white-throated mountain gem (both are accepted names).

    Cheers,
