Speaker placement is key to getting tyrant flycatchers to land on your perch when using audio. This male in peak breeding plumage was shot under very dark skies. I was lucky to get a few sharp frames.

I feel like a broken record when I critique your images!
A lovely image. The reds look great.
I think this is my favorite perch of yours. Love the lichens and mosses and the various shades of green. It compliments the red in the bird perfectly.

    Alan:

Lovely, and the D2x was showing its stuff at this lower ISO.

It is a very good perch, nice scale, interesting shape, lichens add

The reds are really vibrant with nice detail.

    Calling pose a plus.

    Cheers

It is a nice perch I agree. I like the singing pose too and the light looks nice and soft. I am curious, speaker placement being important here is where? Right under the perch? Very nice as usual

Sublime image of a beautiful bird on a sweet perch.
Curious about the iso...320? Under very dark skies....iso800 seems more like a "go to" iso,
and with the increased in ss available, you might have achieved a more sharply focused tail
end...slight motion blur to the tail tip as is...

Sweet, carefully engineered image. Beautiful perch. A few questions. Why were you using a 2x? Why ISO 320? Where exactly do the speakers go? Is the green BG a poster?

Beauty! The whole scene is perfect. Great exposure on this bird. Not easy with the reds. I chased these guys at a desert oasis this winter but had trouble getting a well lit and exposed shot. Great work!

Hey Cheryl, for tyrant Flycatchers, placing the speaker under the perch does not work. It needs to be about 10 feet away. This is something I go into detail with in my new eBook.

Shawn, good question. This is an old image from when i was shooting with a D2X. ISO 320 was my max I would shoot with as the noise on that camera back then was not clean.

Hey Craig, no 2X??. The camera was a D2X, maybe that is what you are seeing? BG is natural. Your other questions are answered above.

Not much to add here but to give another voice to the chorus of how beautiful this is, and stellar in every way.
