Great to see this Aussie giant Derek! Would love to have had a touch more light in the face area, but nevertheless a nice image. Hope your outback trip is successful. At least you don't seem to have the rain/wind/snow that we are having in western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
Yes, we do not see many emus images on BPN, or anywhere for that matter. I agree the light angle is not the best it could and this caused a large shadow on the neck and face. Good exposure though for what looked like tough light. I realize you forgot to change settings, but f/14 was a bit much IMO as I'd prefer the BG a little less prominent. I do like the colours of the vegetation and the purple flowers. Sharp, but I would not sharpen the dirt.
I too feel the 3d effect. Light does sem a bit harsh, maybe some work on the shadows would help that. I really like the environment especially the clay colored road.
thank you all every one right it was shot with the afternoon sun to the west it was one of those chances that it was close enough but rushed i was to excited to check camera over with settings
