Hello BPN, I was made aware of this website through a member I recently met at the Brigantine Wildlife Refuge (part of the Forsythe Reserve) here in NJ.
My interest (obsession?) with bird photography started in an 8th or 9th grade science class as part of an experiment on how images were created using B&W film. When I graduated High School, I was awarded with a partial scholarship to the School of Visual Arts, NYC. Unfortunately, I could not attend for more than half a semester. I started working "freelance" with the various local newspapers into the mid 1980's, putting down my camera to pursue another career in 1988. 22 years later, in the summer of 2010 my "interest" in nature and bird photography was rekindled with snapshots of butterflies at a friends pool party. Since then, I've become a photographer for one of the local race tracks and have been striving to improve my skills with post processing and nature photography. I'm looking forward to making new friends here at BPN while improving my technique and abilities along the way.

Welcome to BPN, Randall. While I wasn't into photography as a youngster, my passion for birds was ignited in second grade. Once my dad put my first SLR in my hands at 18, then my love of bird photography was born. I bet it's been a lot of fun for you to get back into it. Looking forward to seeing some of your pictures. Maybe you could post one of your racing pictures in General Photography forum.

Hi Marina, thank you for the welcome. Having missed the transition from film to digital, it's been a rewarding experience with a rather steep learning curve. I looked through some of your imagery, your Dad ignited quite a fire as your passion for the art is quite evident. Which heading would be most appropriate to post Motorsport related under?

Hello Randall and welcome. I thought your name was familiar, as we both are members of that other er...photo...site. I have to post one of these new member notes myself, as I have only been here for a short while.
Best regards,
Dennis
